blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda

Dude, this blog has been sleepy lately...a big tattle-tale to the crazy one who writes on it, in it, to it, whatever??? Nathan's sleeping patterns are worst than a newborn's, and we are literally at our wit's end with how to help him in it, with it, on it, whatever??? Something is definitely wrong with him at night, and we are just praying that it passes or gets better so we can get some sleep. His night waking has been blamed on being sick, teething, ear pain, reflux, muscle pain, hunger, etc etc etc. All we know is that he can't seem to stay asleep for more than about 4 or 5 hours before waking up screaming. At least 4 nights out of the week, he will stay awake for 2-3 hours in the middle of the night...and that creates one cranky kiddo the next day who falls often and lashes out by hitting everyone out of frustration and boy there. The little dude has always been a crappy sleeper, and believe me...we've tried everything to "sleep train" him. Instead of getting better, his nighttime sleep seems to be getting worst as he grows older. So, there's the excuse for the lack of color on the blog lately. We're just so tired around here.On other news, Nathan has been switched to reglan for his gastroparesis, and he has a gastric emptying scan set up for about a week and a half from now. And the most exciting news is that we have an appt next Thursday morning to meet with the mitochondrial researcher here. I can not begin to express how nervous I am about this meeting. Regardless of whether or not Nathan will end up quaifying for the study, we are pretty much achieving our main purpose in signing him up for it...getting our foot in the door with the only doc anywhere around here that knows mito. I am very much looking forward to meeting this doc and extremely nervous all at the same time. So, that's what we have been up to lately. We are still busy on the medical front with phone calls and appts each week. That coupled with taking care of 3 small kiddos, trying to keep a relatively clean house, and only getting about 5 hours of sleep a night (did I mention that Emma has been waking at 5:30 each morning?) is enough to make anyone live with a hazy head. And we just seem to be going through some sort of funk right'll pass though. It always does after a while. I do look forward to the time change coming this weekend...I'm so ready to start running in the evenings again.

Praying sleep comes, fast! We're having our own issues with sleep, with Livie, because she's been sick, as well. Praying all goes well with the researcher & that Nathan will qualify, or at least you'll get better information.

Reglan? horrible stuff... kids are extremely crabby and very restless and don't sleep at night while on it...

Have you Googled it too...side affects are pretty bad. ashamed they can't give him something else??

don't hurt to ask

Jennifer, he's only on his second day of reglan and his sleep has been miserable for weeks, heck, months. So that is definitely not to blame yet.

Yes, we are very aware and a bit nervous about the side effects of reglan, but that is the only thing we can give him for his DGE because of damage to his mitochondria that other prokinetics create. We tried some time off of anything, but that didn't work at all since he started spitting up again and wouldn't eat.

But thank you for your concern.
