Fall soccer...in 90 degree temps

We obviously didn't think that we had enough to do these days, so we decided to take the plunge and sign Abby up for fall soccer. Last night was the first practice, and the gal really had a great time. I think it helps that she has some fellow kindergarten pals from her school on her team.
She really does have an athletic build and looks so graceful when playing. And for those of you who know Abby, "graceful" is a very unusual word to describe Clutzy McClutz Clutz. Seriously though, it's quite fun to watch her run and kick the ball because she makes it look so natural.
Emma had a really good time rooting her big sister on by periodically yelling "Abby! DO YOUR BEST!!" as she ran past the bleachers. This would pretty much always get a rolling of the eyes from her big sister that satisfied Emma to no end. I can't usually tell if Emma is pestering Abby by doing these things or if she really does care that much. She's a hard one to understand sometimes, but she is always so hilarious.
Someone asked her if she was going to be playing soccer soon, to which she replied in a rather "duh" way: "Noooooo, I'm not 5 yet." This is probably a good thing since she has to stop her regular play every 3 minutes because she is dying for a water break. I'm not sure how long-distance running and the Emmabear are going to mix, but I can't wait to find out in a couple of years. It was a fun night. Well, Nafey Magic would have to disagree with that statement as he embarked on every Florida toddler's first experience with fire ant beds. The poor kiddo has ant festers all up and down his legs today and his mama is trying so very hard to refrain from popping them.
I do look forward to many more evenings at the soccer field. It's fun watching your kids get older and start new adventures. School and soccer and bestest friends and exchanged phone numbers...I'm really enjoying this new season of events in our family. Every day is an adventure.

She does look like a true, natural soccer player. Great pics! Sorry to hear about Nate and his run in with the fire ants :(

So much fun! We spent many hours on the soccer field growing up. Definitely a great sport.

Great pics, Amber!
